Most Quality Standards are generic or rigid – so our diverse IT sector has been left with a ‘square peg’ that never seems to fit.
CompTIA's Accredit UK Trustmark+ is different. Their custom-made accreditation programme is the first to address the specific goals and challenges of growing IT suppliers.
A different approach
At Software Alliance Wales, we chose CompTIA as our accreditation partner a non-profit trade association advancing the global interests of IT professionals and companies. We chose them – chiefly because of three key differences between their Standard and others:
1. No ‘Best Fit’ Principle
CompTIA Accredit UK Trustmark+ is designed by SMEs, for SMEs. So it’s geared towards solving the most common industry problems, from improving performance to inspiring confidence in prospective new clients.
It’s proven effective because it focuses on the dual needs of purchasers and suppliers – creating a framework that protects the needs of both parties with each new project.
2. A Simple Approach
Unlike other Standards, CompTIA appoints its own Assessors, to act as guides or mentors through every stage of the process.
The Assessor’s first job is to create an easy-to-follow action plan, using clear, jargon-free language and working to simple, measurable goals.
Of course there are still processes and protocols to follow. But there’s a reason for every benchmark. No hurdles for hurdling’s sake!
3. Holistic Assessment
Perhaps the most crucial difference is the range and depth of the programme, which looks at the supplier’s ability to work within their chosen field of IT.
In practice, that means assessing general processes and mission-critical skills, to gauge overall levels of competence and technical expertise.
Not surprisingly, this type of rounded assessment has been well received by purchasers, who see certification as a genuine, considered seal of approval:
